THE RAPTURE "HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE?"
Professor LaCroix Remix - Free Download

DFA's first-ever remix contest ends today, and you know there was no way I was going to pass up a chance to remix The Rapture. "House of Jealous Lovers" was a major turning point for dance music, and was a staple of my first regular bar night in L.A., and DFA have obviously been a massive influence on me for almost a full 10 years now, which is crazy. Don't say that.

So here's the result, a slow-bounce west coast disco jam called How Deep Is Your Love? [Professor LaCroix Remix]. Play it up, tell your friends, and please leave comments, you might help me win!

Click here to download the awesome 24-bit AIFF (not iPod compatible) or click here to get the perfectly acceptable mobile-friendly 320k MP3.

REEEEE-MIX!
Free Downloads on Soundcloud

The Professor's been busy, class! With this year's TBM Records releases out of the way and no Burn taking up all my time in August, I finally got a chance to dig into the "Tracks to Edit" folder that lives on my desktop. It's deep. I've barely started, but here's the first run. Download any of these tracks for free by clicking the little arrow to the right of the waveform.

I decided to start with Bob James' "Take Me To The Mardi Gras," one of my all-time favorite hip hop breaks (we miss you Jam Master Jay!). I wanted to give it a newer, leaner, loopier vibe while trying to keep as much of James' original genius intact as possible. Thanks to FreeBreaksBlog for posting it up, and massive ups to Dan Wilcox for the KCRW drop!

BOB JAMES - TAKE ME TO THE MARDI GRAS [PROFESSOR LACROIX RE-EDIT]

I don't normally do hip hop or mash-ups, but I'd been sitting on all these insane Rakim acapellas for a while, and then one day I pulled Newcleus' "Jam On It" instrumental. The original completely blew my 7-year-old mind, it was one of the first records I begged my mom to buy me, and it's always been at the top of my go-to electro tracks. Cosmo D's vocal will always be groundbreaking in it's amazing cartoony way, but Rakim just elevates this track to a completely different space.

My 2nd mashup just kinda happened. Good times.

NEWCLEUS + RAKIM - LET THE RHYTHM HIT 'EM / JAM ON IT [PROFESSOR LACROIX MIX]

GROOVE ARMADA + GREG WILSON + CHIC - GIRLS SAY GOOD TIMES [PROFESSOR LACROIX MIX]

With all the odd stuff of the way I finally set off on my massive, ongoing, as-yet-unnamed classic disco funk edits series. The first three cuts are right here -- and there's so much more to come! Peace, thanks so much for listening!

S.O.S. BAND - TAKE YOUR TIME, DO IT RIGHT [PROFESSOR LACROIX RE-EDIT]

GRACE JONES - PULL UP TO THE BUMPER [PROFESSOR LACROIX RE-EDIT]

IMAGINATION - BURNIN' UP [PROFESSOR LACROIX HOUSEFIRE RE-RUB]

If you know me you're probably familiar with my deep & endless love for Italo Disco. That's why I'm super-psyched about this next TBM Records release from Nassau. It's pure stripped-down no frills Italo space disco, a gorgeous hook gliding over a steady, driving bassline. And it kills!

Get the remix ep with Bottin, Altair Nouveau and me exclusively from Beatport October 11 [Oct 25 everywhere else]. In the meantime check out the Professor LaCroix Remix below, and poke around my Soundcloud page for more new edits & remixes & stuff.

New Remix - Eddie Mars feat Dr Midnight GEMINI
EP out now

If you're a fan of stoney slow-mo disco beats, this Eddie Mars & Dr Midnight EP is about to change your world. Gemini is one of those tracks that just wraps you in its telepathic coils and won't let go. It's one of my favorite tracks from the last few years. So we packaged it up on TBM Records along with the Dub mix and remixes by Pink Stallone and me, Professor LaCroix, into one massive 4-part opus of spacey cosmic disco-funk.

Get it now exclusively in the TBM Records Web Store and on Junodownload. Wide release June 13th. Check out the Professor LaCroix Remix right here --

YURI'S NIGHT World Space Party 2011

I'm pretty suure my year just peaked on Tuesday when I busted out my full DJ astronaut gear and played a bunch of slow-mo space disco for friggin Buzz Aldrin, dude! It's gotta be all downhill from there, cuz that's DOPE.

But the 2nd guy on the moon wasn't the only VIP at our Yuri's Night World Space Party, as this photographic evidence reveals. The Official L.A. party with Subtractive, InSpace, 62 Mile Club and Space Frontier Foundation was wall-to-wall awesome people throwing down great vibes in celebration of 50 years of Human Space Flight!

Thanks to everyone who danced everybody who stopped to say "hey." We can't wait to see you all again... IN SPACE!! (space... space...)

PSYCLE Instant Desert Party at TEDActive 2011

Many many sincere, heartfelt thank yous to {RV}IP Lounge, Subtractive and our friends at the TEDActive conference in Palm Springs for helping us drop what was apparently the livest party this TED dude has ever seen, despite complications with both the terrain and the Palm Springs police force (who were actually very cool, as usual). Everybody was fun as hell, and the spontaneous relocation only made us party harder. So thank you to everyone who came to get down. We want more of you.

Seriously, skip WMC next year and come rock it at TED. These nerds know how to get the fuck DOWN. Believe!

And if you happen to see a mobile, RV-based lounge & karaoke-cabaret rolling around Austin at SXSW this year, you are hereby instructed to get on board, or wonder forever.

FREE DOWNLOAD - LEGEND GOLD feat. KESTRIN
New music from TBM Records

It's been a long couple years but I'm finally about to release my 4th record this spring on TBM Records. It's called "Legend Gold" and I recorded it last August in Santa Monica with my insanely talented friend Kestrin on vocals, who totally nailed it and made it amazing.

Since then, this video happened of when I played it in the middle of the desert last Halloween... and one of my personal favorite dudes Rodion just turned in this amazing dubby italo prog disco trance remix that you're gonna love, but you can't hear yet.

What you can hear right now is this advance ep from TBM Records with tracks by myself, Eddie Mars and Nassau. Check it all out in the player right below here, and if you enter your email you can download all 3 tracks free, plus be first in line for the remix EPs when they come out this spring. Tell all your friends, get your free disco jams right here --

Halloween in the Desert with Casanova USA

Last October we took our Halloween party out to the middle of the desert and debuted our new live band Casanova USA before embarking on a Legendary all-night-and-into-the-next-day facemelting conference (click the links for pics).

Pumpkin helmets and Karl Lagerfeld wigs kept heads warm from dusk til dawn while a bevy of drop-dead gorgeous DJs burned the dancefloor to a smoldering crisp, and by morning there wasn't a drop of Tequila left in all of Southern California.

Check out the moving pictures below to remote-view the first ever public Casanova USA jam live from the surface of the moon, and a bit of my next record Legend Gold from the beginning of my DJ set --

Black Rock Roller Disco Mega Podcast!

True story: when I was 12 years old I applied for a job as a DJ at the local Roller Dome. I didn't get the job, probably due to some child labor laws or something, but they humored me through the application & interview anyway, and I got my first view ever from inside a DJ booth. Changed my shit forever.

This year at Burning Man I did one better courtesy of the Black Rock Roller Disco - I rolled up and played an evening set at an outdoor rink in the middle of the desert in a full whiteout dust storm for THREE HOURS, in my underwear. "Epic" doesn't begin to describe it, but it's as close as I can get using actual words.

Massive and eternal thanks to the Godfather D Miles and the whole BRRD camp, and everyone who came through to skate and say hey. It was a lifetime hilight, and I can't wait to do it again next year.

Til then, here it is: Professor LaCroix at Black Rock Roller Disco, aka "Dusty Tears" -

New VIP AREA podcast for September

Before I get down to posting my Burning Man 2010 mix series, here's a new VIP AREA disco set for September, which includes among other goodies a rough mix of my new track "Legend Gold" with vocals by my dear friend and co-legend Kestrin Pantera. Look for the single early 2011 on TBM Records.

This month's mix also features my personal #1 track of 2010 so far: Aeroplane's "I Crave Paris," a white label remix combining the vocal from Flight Facilities' "Crave You (ft. Gazelle)" over Aeroplane's own instrumental remix of Friendly Fires' "Paris." It's insanely good, and makes me impossibly happy every time I hear it. It's also available to you for FREE!

Enjoy! More to come...
